How Does Ventoxx Work?

Ventoxx fresh air heat recovery unit is a compact ventilation system installed in the wall of a house or apartment.

Ventoxx utilizes the natural temperature difference between outgoing stale air and incoming fresh air to minimize heat loss in winter and maintain a comfortable indoor climate in summer. The system continuously extracts humid, polluted air and replaces it with fresh, pre-warmed air from outside, preventing moisture build-up.

What do the tenants get:

Frequently Asked Questions

How loud is the Ventoxx heat recovery unit?
chevron icon

Ventoxx systems operate within a range of 16–43 dB, depending on the mode and fan speed. This corresponds to the noise level of a whisper, soft conversation, or regular speaking. For context: 40 dB is the standard noise level limit for residential buildings and educational institutions. Operation at low speeds is suitable even for bedrooms and children’s rooms. In office settings, this sound level is often imperceptible due to a generally higher ambient noise. According to European standards, the upper limit for acceptable office noise is 55 dB.

Do Ventoxx units help control humidity in flats or houses?
chevron icon

Yes! By ensuring a constant supply of fresh air, Ventoxx systems help balance indoor humidity levels. This effectively prevents mould and damp issues — which thrive in moist environments. With proper mode settings, the system can entirely eliminate the negative effects of high humidity in your home.

How much energy can be saved with heat recovery?
chevron icon

Ventoxx units are not a replacement for heating systems, but they significantly help retain heat indoors. The ceramic heat exchanger used in Ventoxx HRVs captures heat from outgoing air and transfers it to incoming fresh air. This process is more efficient than copper exchangers. The most advanced Ventoxx models lose only around 9% of thermal energy during ventilation. So, after air exchange, your room maintains a comfortable climate without excessive heating costs.

How many Ventoxx units do I need for my home or flat?

Ventoxx units are not a replacement for heating systems, but they significantly help retain heat indoors. Are Ventoxx systems compliant with UK building regulations?
chevron icon

Yes. Ventoxx HRVs meet UK requirements for mechanical ventilation and heat recovery under Part F of the Building Regulations. Our products are CE-certified and suitable for both new builds and retrofits.

Can Ventoxx be installed in listed or historic buildings?
chevron icon

Yes, Ventoxx units are non-invasive and ideal for listed or heritage properties where traditional ducting is not allowed. The wall-mounted design means minimal structural disruption while still achieving proper ventilation.

Is installation messy or time-consuming?
chevron icon

Not at all. Installation typically takes a few hours and does not require major construction. Our certified technicians handle the job with minimal disruption, whether it’s a flat, office, or detached home.

Do I need planning permission to install a Ventoxx unit?
chevron icon

In most cases, no planning permission is required, especially for single dwellings. However, if the building is listed or within a conservation area, it’s best to consult your local authority. We can provide technical documentation to support your application if needed.

What kind of maintenance is required?
chevron icon

Ventoxx units are very low-maintenance. You’ll only need to clean or replace the filter (usually every 3–6 months, depending on usage). No complicated servicing is needed and we offer full support for parts and maintenance in the UK.
